Today around 9 in the morning, I was spot-touching the paint in the room that Matt and I painted. I was using a little watercolor brush to apply some white paint to the ceiling borders.

Two drips of white paint accidentally fell onto the wall. I quickly wiped up the misplaced paint and proceeded to apply a thin layer of the Alps Blue paint to cover it.

I placed the electric fan on the carpeted floor to help it dry more quickly just in case I needed to add one more thin layer.

Suddenly, I felt my ring finger of my left hand seep into the fan shield and right into the spinning blades. I felt a HARD and violently painful hit and crunch shock my fingertip.

I immediately withdrew my finger, thinking that it was probably okay...I mean...it was only an electric fan...but then...it was an electric fan on the highest fanning mode.

I looked at my finger which instantly HURT like HELL. The tip of the finger had been cut...a half-inch gash with a smaller gash underneath. The area right below my fingernail was also cut. The color of my skin was already a bruised dark black and burgandy red. And. Most of all...there was the BLOOD. Spots of blood spurted onto my grey tank top, my pajama pants, and the cardboard that was propped up against the table (which was used as a carpet protector during painting). I FREAKED. It hurt so much and the blood was POOLING inside the palm of my hand. It was a HANDFUL of blood. I never bled so much that fast from a cut in my life.

I started feeling woozy, sick, and light-headed. I wanted to throw up. I fought against my fear. I started to hyperventilate. I went into the bathroom and placed my hand in the sink. Blood flowed into the sink and dripped down the sides a bit. I washed my hand with cold water and wrapped a paper towel around the wounds. I went onto the sofa and laid down, trying to breathe in steady breaths, but I was still hyperventilating.

I then went to Matt (who was still sleeping) and laid down next to him. My breaths were loud and raspy. He woke up and was so concerned and asked me what was wrong. I told him what had happened in a ragged voice. My voice sounded like I was crying since I was so shaky.

He told me to lay my hand down so he could look at it. He wrapped two small bandages around my cuts. By this time (8 minutes since I cut my finger), I had stopped bleeding (thank goodness), but I felt tingling and numbness in my hand.

I asked Matt to hold me close. And he held and cuddled my body with his warmth and love. And then we fell asleep for a stretch of a few hours until David woke up.

Wow. That incident was just CRAZY. I never thought that the whirling blades of a fan could do THAT much damage. So be careful...I know I will be more careful in the future. OUCH.

To make up for this awful morning accident...I received the following in the mail today...all purchases off Ebay. I also got two pairs of blue jeans, but I didn't want to upload that picture. So...here is a little gallery of my summer attire.

If you spot a girl in in the street wearing a pretty dress with a bandaged left ring finger...well, that would be ME. Heh.
