I hate hay fever. I hate allergies. I hate pollen when it vacuums up my nostrils and down my throat. I periodically suffer from itchy eyes, a scratchy dry throat, a sneezy nose, and general annoyance.
Not only am I allergic to seasonal shifts in pollen that flies through the air, I am allergic to many types of fruit.
Kiwi, apple, plum, cherry, peach, nectarine, and others I am sure that I do not yet know of. I CAN eat these fruit, but I have to IMMEDIATELY consume some OTHER type of food, preferably something "heavy and fattening" such as pasta or chocolate...to wash away from my taste buds whatever makes me allergic to the fruit. If I eat these fruit without any subsequent "antidotes," the inside of my mouth and throat will SCREAM FOR HORROR AND MERCY in a matter of seconds or minutes at the most...EXTREME itchiness, dryness, and soreness. The itchiness is the worse effect. It feels like a plague is savagely scraping my throat. It is horrible.
I got this allergy-type thing from my mother most likely...she experiences the exact thing with the same fruits. And she has hay fever as well. My younger brother is absolutely fine. DAMN him. Heh. Lucky jerk.
I CAN safely eat these fruits and drink their juices IF they are cooked or dried or factory-treated. I can eat apple pie and dried apple slices and canned sliced peaches and fruit cocktail cherries and kiwi gummy candies and drink apple cider juice and ANYTHING. Certain fruits just cannot be consumed FRESH, unless of course I resort to the aforementioned "antidotes."
I am not complaining really. It isn't all that bad...it's not like I LOVE LOVE LOVE fruits. I CAN eat my favorites without any difficulty : watermelon, grapes, and honeydew. Mmmm.
I just REALLY HATE hay fever. I can go years without having a problem with the pollen that circulates through the air, but then --WHAM!!!-- a certain type of pollen is unleashed and it can be uncomfortable for me for a length of a few weeks to maybe a month or two. Then normalcy resumes. I am waiting for THAT right now.
