All M. and I did this weekend was lounge around on the sofa. He has had an on-and-off fever ever since last Friday. It's been three take-care-of-my-honey days. He is almost good as new.

Since yesterday afternoon, we have watched the complete original Star Wars Trilogy (Episodes IV, V, and VI) and the newest one (Episode I). My head is spinning. We discussed the movies yesterday night before going to bed and this afternoon as well.

In my opinion, the original trilogy is far superior to the newest one. The acting is much better...especially the wonderful talent of Sir Alec Guiness (a.k.a OB-1-Kenobi). I love Guiness, especially in one of my favorite movies, Murder By Death...in which he plays a blind butler. Please, if you have never seen this movie...get your hands on it. It is maddenly hilarious and devilish. All the acting is fabulous.

I also still prefer the older-more-reality-based look and feel of the original trilogy. You had to build everything back then, more or less. Technology was nothing as it is today. The newest Star Wars installment is so computer-based...it is amazing to look at...but it doesn't seem REAL. In comparison, I absolutely felt I was in the worlds depicted in the original trilogy.

The stories were more focused and developed in the original three movies. And I am not just talking about the whole trilogy...each of the original episodes was perfect.

And I more or less was NOT impressed with the acting of the cast of the newest movie. Here's a tip to Steven Spielberg and George Lucas...for the next two movies...get UNKNOWN talent. Unknown actors. They would probably work better to the believability to the story. For example, I just cannot picture Ewan McGregor (though I dig him in other movies) as a young OB-1-Kenobi...you know what I mean?? Star Wars type of dialogue can be corny and cheesy at times...therefore you really need to find the right people to portray the characters. All the words that were spoken in the original trilogy came across beautifully...it's absolutely amazing. Harrison Ford (Hans Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), the voice of James Earl Jones (Darth Vader/Anniken Skywalker), Alec Guiness (Ob-1-Kenobi), etc...they kicked major ass with the dialogue they were given. I am just saying that unknown actors could have a stronger effect and presence with the dialogue than famous celebrities might (regardless of their talent).

Last thing...I still think it was absolutely BRILLIANT of Lucas and Spielberg to have started the entire Star Wars storytelling with Episodes IV, V, and VII. They told the later tales first before the earlier tales. It has been so much more thrilling and intriguing this way. I know that one of the reasons why they decided to tell the later episodes first was because they simply didn't have the computer and special-effects technology they required back in the 70's and 80's to tell the stories in the earlier episodes. Then...the 90's arrived and computer technology SOARED...and well...there you go...Episode I. Regardless of this technology part...it really DID work out for the most exciting storytelling.

And yes...I apologize for my rambling. My God...

By the way, if you are a Star Wars geek or a geek-in-training (like I am)...say your hellos.

If you hate jedis and ewoks and imperial storm troopers...you can rest easy because it is the end of the entry. And if you read this far and don't even like Star Wars, all I can say is, "Wow...you have a high threshold of tolerance."
