I almost forgot to mention the magical moment that occurred during our ride home yesterday from the restaurant.
M. was driving the car on the right side of the street in the lane closest to the sidewalk. A scurry of cars and vans drove past us. A whirlwind of fallen leaves blew all over the car. We were perfectly in the middle of this leaf blizzard. It was incredible to witness...to experience. The leaves were like glittery butterflies dancing all over the car, flying and flapping their iridescent wings rapidly outside our windshields and windows. The leaf-butterflies gave us thousands of butterfly kisses. The colors were so vivid. Gold, forest green, orange, and yellow. The colors shimmered, glimmered. Sparkled like multi-faceted diamonds in the early afternoon sunlight. It lasted only a matter of fleeting seconds, but the impression is still emblazoned in my memory. M. was so blown away by it. When it was happening, we simultaneously voiced our delight. We both were wide-eyed like little children and breathlessly said "Wow..." We giggled and laughed. Words like awesome and unbelievable were uttered by our lips. I said it was like we were inside a snowglobe.
He said we could turn around and go back to the same area and maybe it might happen again. We decided against the idea being that such a special moment was exactly that...special. It was a heavenly concoction of wind, cars, and leaves that gave our leaf storm...we were at the perfect place at the most perfect time.
