A woman working at the cash register asked M. where I was from. He answered, "She's from ____ (where I live)." The woman asked again, "BUT where is she FROM?" M. didn't understand what she was asking for so he called me over to the register. She then asked me the same question and I answered the same thing, "____." She asked me again, "BUT where are you FROM?" I asked, "What do you mean?" She then asked, "What nationality are you?" I then reply, "Ohhhhhh...I am Chinese." She smiled and pointed to her own eyes and then told me, "I like your eyes." I smile back and say quickly, "Oh, thank you!!!"
Compliments like that from strangers (especially women) really make my day. If other men compliment me, I'll most likely thank them, but will probably be self-conscious and wonder if they are interested in me. If women compliment me, I don't care if they're interested in me or just giving me their opinion...those compliments are just NICE and make me happy. It's an acceptance thing...when women give other women compliments about their appearance, it's just the most fabulous thing in the world...it's kind of like a vote of approval.
On the way home from that shopping store, Matt turned on the interior car light (it was night already)and looked at me. He grinned wide and said, "Oh my honey has nice eyes." I laughed and then started to cover my eyes with my hands because I was getting kind of silly-embarrassed. And then I told him that I really do appreciate compliments from women.
